reminder1
Please make sure that your child comes dressed in the appropriate school uniform each today. Unfortunately, we will have to issue uniform violations for those that do not abide by the school’s policy. This includes jewelry, nail polish, sneakers, belts, etc. Please refer back to the Family handbook for proper uniform dress. After several REPEATED uniform violations, your child will be issued an incident report stating that they have not followed OLCA’s dress code. Thank you for your understanding in regards to this matter.

A little bit about homework in Kindergarten…
Homework provides an opportunity to deepen understanding and enhance skills beyond the school day. The goal for each child is to become an independent worker as the year progresses. When help is needed, explain directions and guide your child without doing the work for them. It is a good idea to have a consistent time and place to work on homework. Have a quiet place where your child can sit comfortably with all supplies needed. All homework must be returned the next day, as we will be checking it daily. Students who miss more than three homework assignments in one trimester will receive a maximum grade of “2” in homework on the report card.
*Parents must sign their children’s homework each night to indicate that they are aware that their child has done their homework. Returning tests and graded assignments with a parent signature are a part of the child’s homework grade.
Kindergarten homework will consist of workbook pages, worksheets, blending words review, memory word review, and a record sheet for listing books you read together. Please plan to spend 15-30 minutes each night doing homework with your child. Homework is given daily Monday – Thursday. The only time a weekend assignment will be given if it is an extension of a project/ activity. Due to unforeseen circumstances, there may be times when homework simply cannot be completed. Please just let us know and we will do our best to accommodate your child’s needs. However, we ask that this is not a repeated pattern.

They have been participating in a variety of different activities, including physical exercise. Students even sang songs about ways in which they can keep their bodies healthy. As a culminating activity to this mini unit, students are asked to create a poster, based upon one of the healthy habits discussed. Such habits included: *bathing *brushing your teeth *wearing a seatbelt *fighting germs *exercising *eating healthy foods *washing hands *combing your hair Please note that there are several others as well, which can be found in the take home book that your child has made.
